steel boiler stay thread selant

Has anyone a recommendation for steel boiler stay and pipe sealant please. Tom

Are you asking about threaded stays or welded stays? Threaded stays should be mechanically caulked. Weld stays should have a good enough weld to seal, but can also be mechanically caulked.
Pipes can be sealed with plumbers dope. I don't know what is available in the UK. In the USA I use Loctite PST, pipe sealant with teflon.

Use Loctite 542 it is a hydraulic sealant good 500 degrees. I have sealed water gauges into boilers with no problem. It is also permanent in that the parts can be dismantled easily.
