Remote points operation

As posted elsewhere I'm establishing a garden railway which initially will have 4 sets of points. Being used to canal and river boating in France most locks are now operated remotely often by the boat helmsman having a hand held 'telecommand' to send a signal to a bankside post some way before the lcck this then starts the lcck operation of sluices and gates etc.

Is there equipment that could be bought to do a similar operation to the above? i.e. to enable points operation by the approaching locomotive driver? Also perhaps a train operated device to re set points to a default position?
