Now Sold. 7 1/4g large powerful steam outline battery electric loco. I built this up from a Phoenix Locos Timber Creek loco, with a lot of modifications. It is just over two years old, and I have run it at the local club for two seasons. This is a 24v 4hp bogie loco loosly based on a geared logging loco. A heavy loco coming in at around 390kg. Dimensions are 2240mm long, 600mm wide, and 1090mm high. This has two 1hp motors in each bogie, with lower gearing to allow greater pulling power. This also improves regenerative braking. Top speed about 8.8 mph. All chain drive. 4QD pro-360 controller with display. Seperate digital volt/amp/watt hour meter. Four 110Ah batteries provide the power, giving 220Ah at 24 volts. There is an Anderson connector under the seat wired to the batteries to allow charging externally. Ancillaries run from the main batteries through a voltage dropper, so no extra battery required. Cab controls set up like a steam loco. Each of the brass taps is an electrical switch for ancillaries. Throttle is a smooth quadrant push-pull type. Johnson bar type forward /reverse lever, with 'dead' mid gear position. The loco has both a 12v car vacuum pump for fail safe train vacuum brakes, and an air pump for fail safe train air brakes. The air system also operates the disc brake on the front bogie. Both systems work from the handbrake wheel in the cab, the vacuum system operates the main air valve for the air brakes. When the brakes are on, this works the 'deadmans' switch. Rectus 21 type brake outlets. Steam sound card with a speaker in the chimney, and an 80w amplifier with a larger speaker under the seat if you really want to impress! A seperate sound unit with 5 different recordings of a 5 note chime whistle also runs through the amplifier. 5 buttons work the different sounds. Westinghouse pump and injector sounds now and then when stationary. A good strong club hauler. Breaks my heart to sell, but it is too heavy for me to cope with now. A conversation can be had if you want it delivering. £7500 ono
