£1,100.00

Location: Nottingham Date added: 27 August 2026 12:53 PM

offered for sale by the Portable Railway Club are this pair of 7¼" gauge vacuum-braked passenger coaches, built by Abbots Model Engineering. The coaches date from around 2023 and have enjoyed regular use at a variety of railways around the country with their previous owners. They were donated to the Portable Railway Club earlier this year, with the intention that they would be sold to raise funds for the development of our permanent railway at Wingfield Station. The coaches are built to the older Abbots design, using the smaller diameter wheels, but are otherwise very similar to the current coaches offered by Abbots. It is a simple and well proven design that has been in use for many years. The original paintwork had suffered some damage during storage, so both coach bodies have been completely shot blasted and professionally powder coated in this attractive gloss blue. Please note that the bogies have not been repainted and retain their original finish. Both coaches are fitted with vacuum braking equipment. Brand new, the equivalent Abbots Model Engineering coaches currently retail at approximately: Coach: £1,395 each Vacuum brake system: £350 each This gives a total equivalent new value of approximately £3,490 for the pair. ************************* We are offering them for: £2,000 for the pair or £1,100 each ************************* The seats have some light scuffs and marks from use, as pictured, but remain perfectly serviceable. The coaches are used and have marks and wear associated with their age and previous use. No additional warranty or guarantee is provided, and prospective purchasers are very welcome to inspect them before buying. Delivery can be arranged by pallet to any part of the UK at additional cost. The Portable Railway Club has asked Miniature Railway Workshop to handle the sale on its behalf. The coaches are available to view at MRW on weekdays between 9am and 5pm by prior appointment. Enquiries: miniaturerailwayworkshop@gmail.com 44 (0)7591 006642 All funds raised from the sale will go directly back into the Portable Railway Club, supporting the development of its permanent railway at Wingfield Station and its wider aims as a not-for-profit organisation promoting miniature railways.
